About VHEAP

The Virginia Higher Education Accessibility Partners group (VHEAP) is comprised of professionals within the disability and accessibility fields. Focusing primarily on higher education, the organization also invites participation from all areas within the Commonwealth working to advance accessibility at all levels of education and various state advocacy agencies. This group works to promote information and communications technology (ICT) accessibility, accessibility in the built environment, and social justice impacts of disability through events and collaborative partnerships (e.g., cooperative purchasing agreements) with colleagues across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The VHEAP Board of Directors includes colleagues from institutions of higher education, state agencies, and K-12 school districts in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

VHEAP 2022 SMART GOAL

From December 2021 to December 2022, VHEAP will increase its membership base across institutions of higher education, state agencies, and K-12 school districts from 152 to 190 members (22% increase) .  This will be accomplished by fostering collaborations with peer organizations in Virginia, establishing a social media presence, enhancing member communication platforms, offering targeted professional development, and expanding website content.
