Speaker: Chris Parthemos, Assistant Director of Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity at VCU

Description: It’s hard to scroll through the news these days without hearing a new update or opinion piece about Artificial Intelligence and ChatGPT. In higher education, it is already becoming a hot topic around academic integrity, academic rigor, and more. But what does it mean for us as access professionals? Are there circumstances in which access to generative AI like Chat GPT could become an Accommodation?

In this session, the presenter will give an overview of what ChatGPT and similar programs are, what some of the risks associated with their use may be, how universities around the country are beginning to adjust to these tools, and how students are beginning to use them. With the remaining time, we will have an opportunity to open the floor to questions, discussion, and opportunities to share thoughts on this incredibly pressing topic in education.
